What is a short film?

My definition: A film which does not have the same constraints a feature film has, such as the industry constraints etc... Instead  they allow a filmmaker to be free with their creative ideas meaning they can create something unconventional. A lot of the time a short film does not have the technology or budget that a feature film has, but the point of it is to spread a message.


Common Features of a short film:

• Smaller budget.
• Condensed narrative.
• Moral message/ message to convey a theme.
• Self Contained.
• Minimal to no dialogue.
• Less characters.
• Location is often a public space.
• Improvisation.
• Experimental/ unconventional.
