My Example

First I watched the scene, I then went back and wrote what I saw in the stage directions. Scribing word by word the dialogue on screen.  

The Original

However when I then compared it to the original script, it was clear that the actors were given freedom with the script in order to portray a truthful performance. Therefore, the script and stage directions differed from that of the final cut.

A teacher from Long Road Josh Whedon came in to talk to us about character and how to develop one. He was hugely helpful as he made me understand what is important with not only character development but script writing in general. 

We were then given examples of characters being described in detail  -
we were then asked to write our own character opening.

This was the exercise that made me realise the complexities of script writing.

In class we were given sheets that explained the format in which you should write a script using, and key works associated with it. I then had the chance to practice writing a script of my own, we had to base it off a story we had already been given but we would change it in any way we wanted. I loved this exercise as I felt that it made me feel far more confident in my script writing ability.

My script
